49ers can maintain their stellar postseason record by defeating the Packers.

The 49ers’ incredible NFL season from 2023 might carry over into the postseason.

With players breaking individual records every week, San Francisco has an opportunity on Saturday to continue its winning streak in the divisional round of the playoffs as a team.

In their first playoff game of the year, the 49ers host Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers at Levi’s Stadium. The team has already won the NFC North title and an automatic first-round bye. San Francisco will have won six straight divisional round games if they prevail and go on to the NFC Championship Game.

After defeating the New Orleans Saints in 2011, San Francisco started their winning run. From that point on, the 49ers have won divisional round games against the Packers (2012), 2021), Carolina Panthers (2013), Minnesota Vikings (2019), and Dallas Cowboys (2022).

The only team with a longer streak is the New England Patriots (8, 2011–18).

The game on Saturday will pit two well-known rivals against each other. Twenty-five years ago, Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young and Hall of Fame receiver Terrell Owens connected on a game-winning touchdown in the final seconds to help San Francisco pull off a surprising Wild Card victory over Green Bay in the 1998 playoffs.

In their most recent postseason meeting, the 49ers upset the top-seeded Packers 13-10 at a snow-covered Lambeau Field in 2021.

The teams have faced off in five postseason games since 2012, the most recent being a 37-20 victory by San Francisco in the 2019 NFC Championship.

The 49ers are accustomed to playing in the playoffs, but they haven’t been able to bring home a sixth Vince Lombardi trophy. This time, though, they hope it will be different, and it all begins on Saturday night.
