Harsh: A reporter for the Boston Celtics criticized Cam Thomas harshly.

The Athletic’s Jay King got really upset on February 13 during the Boston Celtics’ 118-110 win over the Brooklyn Nets, criticizing Cam Thomas when NBC Sports Boston’s Max Lederman mentioned that the former LSU guard was fun and that he loves him.

“Almost never happens,” King wrote on Twitter. “Doesn’t defend” Has some of the worst ways of choosing where to shoot the ball in the league. Certainly, if that’s what you prefer.

It keeps getting more bad. The King said Thomas doesn’t know how to play basketball because a fan said The Athletic reporter should like his way of making shots.

“Since I’m a basketball player, I like guys who really know how to play basketball,” King joked.

Thomas made 10 out of 20 shots from the field and 4 out of 7 shots from the 3-point line. He also made both of the free throws he took. He scored 26 points, made four passes to teammates, grabbed two rebounds, stole the ball two times, made three mistakes, got called for five fouls, and had a -7 rating for his overall performance.

Some people who study basketball don’t agree with Jay King, a writer who follows the Boston Celtics, about Cam Thomas.
Some Twitter accounts that focus on the Nets praised Thomas’ good defense against the Celtics, whether they were directly responding to King or not.

“Cam Thomas did really well in the second half, even though he had a hard time at first, and he was playing against the best team in the NBA,” said Erik Slater from ClutchPoints.

One well-known fan of the Nets, BrooklynNetcast, thinks that Thomas and rookie Jalen Wilson played their best games of the season.

“Cam Thomas and Jalen Wilson played their best defense in the second half against Boston. It was good to see that they are improving. ” I really want to watch Cam and JW play in the whole game. I trust them to play good defense every time.

Thomas would have been a good choice for the team in 2021, but Boston didn’t have a chance to pick him in the first round. The Celtics haven’t gotten a top draft pick since Brad Stevens started running the team, but it would be great if they could trade for one without spending too much money this summer. Well, affordable until he gets an extension, at least.

I wouldn’t rely on it. Brooklyn will probably focus on their really good scorer when they plan for the future.
