Many winning teams have a player who isn’t the main scorer but always makes important plays that change the game. The 2007-08 Celtics had good players like Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, but they wouldn’t have won the championship without Tony Allen.
The Celtics made the playoffs every year when Marcus Smart was on the team, and that’s not a coincidence. He worked hard and used his heart to make many important plays, like diving for loose balls or stopping the other team from scoring.

Jrue Holiday and Derrick White are strong players, but they don’t seem like they are difficult to play against. Tillman’s aggressive style of play could bother his opponents and make them feel angry and annoyed.
I really hope that’s true. The Celtics need someone to make their opponents feel nervous and distracted. Tillman doesn’t need to show a lot of emotions or be loud after making big plays, but he needs to play without being afraid. This means not being afraid of anyone and being ready to stand up to an opponent.
Some people might think the Celtics don’t need Tillman as a backup janitor. The Celtics won’t need him if they are all healthy. Celtics boss Brad Stevens got Tillman for when Boston needs him.
