Former Celtics forward gets buyout, allowed to sign with Boston
Muscala is averaging 3.8 points and 2.8 rebounds through 37 games with the Pistons and Wizards this season. While the suitors might not necessarily be lining up to pick up the big man, he could provide some outside shooting and a veteran presence in the locker room.
Now, it’s no guarantee Muscala signs with the Celtics. Boston does have an extra roster spot following the trade deadline, so there is some space. But it’s unclear at this point what the C’s want to do with that roster spot as they could wait till near the end of the season to fill it.
Muscala could also be looking for a larger opportunity on a playoff team as minutes will be hard to come by in Boston. But he’s at least eligible for a Celtics return if both sides are interested in that. Regardless, it’ll be interesting to see where Muscala lines up.
