Greatness: Tiger Woods will have a new look at The Genesis Invitational, not just with his clothes.
Tiger Woods is not just getting new clothes, he is also getting a makeover.
The PGA Tour is back at Riviera Country Club for The Genesis Invitational this week, and it also marks the comeback of Tiger Woods. Yes, Woods will play in his first PGA Tour event of 2024 this week at one of his favorite golf courses.
When you watch the Big Cat on Thursday, you might see that he is wearing something new. Woods will be introducing his new brand, “Sun Day Red,” at Riviera. This will be the first time in 27 years that Woods won’t be wearing Nike when he plays.
It’s the end of a time period, for sure.
Tiger is making more than just a wardrobe change for his first game of the season. Woods will have a new person to carry his golf clubs.
Joe LaCava, who has been carrying Tiger Woods’ golf bag since 2011, has now started working full-time with Patrick Cantlay. Woods chose a veteran caddie, Lance Bennett, to take over the role for the 2024 season.
Bennett is holding Adrien Dumont de Chassart’s bag, but the new golfer is not playing in The Genesis Invitational. Before, he helped Bill Haas, Matt Kuchar, Sungjae Im, Zach Johnson, and Davis Riley with their work.
Because Bennett is already committed to De Chassart for 2024, he probably won’t stay with Woods for good. Tiger needs to find a new person to carry his golf clubs if he and De Chassart both play in the same tournament.
It’s difficult to know how well Woods will do in his first game since December, but it’s likely that he will be making most of the decisions on the course with a new caddie.
